Bishop's Stortford 2008
The GTTN 2008 'Gathering' took place at The Hub Church in Bishop's Stortford at the beginning of October.Over 150 delegates came from various areas of the UK and abroad including, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Belgium and Scotland. Friday evening: The HUB worship band led the worship in the new Hub Church facility. This was the first meeting after the official completion of the building project. A delightful, functional meeting area has been created. Saturday began with the Opengate worship band led by Marcello Guimareas and continued with testimonies from those who are engaged with the GTTN vision. The theme was to examine, 'how we are doing' Bill Cowie from Leith Baptist Church, Edinburgh, one of the original partners with the GTTN vision, shared about the appoinment of Pastor Eder Feraz as 'his right arm.' The wonderful way God led to such a position being filled by a Brazilian out of relationship not salesmanship! see article on GTTNUK web page. Valmir and Andrew Greener from Birmingham, where their church is in the middle of a large Moslem community, shared about their activities among these people. Jame Nobre introduced Cleber Alves a Brazilian missionary in Mozambique, who shared about his work with pastors and chiurches there: www.bymission.org Pastor Cleber wrote after the conference: "It's 07:30 in the morning, i am at the Johannesburg airport. Soon I will be travelling to Maputo, which is the capital of Mocambique and at night I will go to Quelimane, where we live. I arrived yesterday from London, the time there was great. It was great to be with Pr. Jame again, and know people linked with him. The conference that I participated in, "Ide as Nacoes", it's different than the other ones that I've been to. It's a time to celebrate God and hear testemonies of missionaries linked with this conference. It's neither an agency nor a missionary organization. They're churches who gather together that are already involved in mission, Brazilians and Europeans churches. I was the only one from an African church. There were brothers and sisters from 'Brasa" of Porto Alegre, "Sal da Terra" of Goiania, "Familia" of Sao Paulo and others. There was a time on the Saturday evening in which they spread an giant fabric made of flags from all over the world sowed together. It was an amazing prayer time and overflow of God. I stayed underneath the flag of Mocambique and cried out God for my people! The fabric was so huge that it filled the whole room. During this trip I was impressed with the position of Pr. Jame among his contempories." Flavio Guratto shared movingly on how his miraculous move to Bergamo Italy was totally orchestrated by God to the tune of a cash gift of £15000 within a few days of need, enabled him and his family to fulfil the call to go to this nation to build a church there. see news on web pages. A taster of the forth coming OpenHeart worship and arts conference in Bognor Regis was arranged on Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening Anderson talked about the "dinosaures!" its time for the next generation to rise up! A good time was had by all........looking forward to Ideas nacoes 2009....Brazil. |
