Junior and Sue Demaceno in France

Update: March 2009

A lady has been coming to see us for the last year and a half. She is very depressed and suicidal. Her parents both committed suicide, her Mum when she was a teenager and her Dad a few years ago. She has got two teenager children. She comes to see us out of the blue when she is really desperate. She has been to some Church meetings and she is reading the Bible. She lost her job last year because of her present emotional and mental condition.

There is a young man who lives near who has mental illness and is a drug addict. This morning he rang our door bell many times. Susan was on her own so she didn't want to answer the door. Finely when Junior came back at dinner time he was able to sort out the problem a bit. Apparently he has no food. He has been to a service once.

Children at Church. Normaly now on a Sunday we have about 6 children in the Sunday school. There are three people now taking turns with Susan to teach the children. This is a real relief to Susan. The challenge is that the age range is very vast. From 1 year to 10 years.

We've had a few people coming to look around the building. It is being sold at a very reasonable price (basically the price of the land). So it is not surprising that people are interested in the building. Today a surveyor came around to take measurements. We hope that after this we will soon get a buyer.

Junior is doing a one to one studies with a hand full of people either here or at their homes. He finds these very encouraging. We are hoping that some of these people will be able in turn to teach others and to become more active in the church. One of them is a man who used to be an elder in the Church many years ago. He has been away from Church for many years. He came back last year. He is eager to study with Junior.

We are thankful to still be able to use the building that belongs to the local authorities for our Sunday meetings. Often we see new people coming to the service. Last Sunday for example there were two new faces. We have about 30 to 40 every Sunday. Our concern still is for the long time members of the Church who are not regular. If every one came to a service we would easy have over 50 adults. The longer time members haven't got a hunger to progress or know more of the Bible. None of them come to the Wednesday night Bible study for example. We are now studying the book of Revelation. We have between 10 to 15 people coming, including two catholics.

It is still the holidays for Melanie and Stephanie. They go back next Monday. They are enjoying having lots of time to play!

Love to all of you.
